Brick Bodies Blog – The Members Voice

Meet the Bloggers

Ron Swanson

My wife Pam and I are goat herders, along with being printers and graphic designers (we own PR Graphics on Old Padonia Road in Cockeysville). Since its founding I have been the Commissioner of The Bad Golfers Association and with the help of Brick Bodies I aspire to some day be good enough for The Mediocre Golfers Association. Since 2008 when I became a member of Brick Bodies Padonia, my goals have been to become less “obese” and more flexible. In my blog posts I hope to report on the journey of a “non-gym rat.”

Being a retired high school Spanish teacher from Maine and “granny nanny” since 2004, I’m happy living here with my husband in Baltimore b/c at some level all Baltimoreans understand what P.J. O’Rourke wrote, “…everybody you meet is going to be somebody you went to high school with.”  A member of Lynne Brick Belvedere for 6 months and rhythmically challenged, my goal is to participate in Body Jam classes longer than 5 minutes. “Hope springs eternal.” (Alexander Pope) or as Sri Chinmoy wrote, “The word ‘impossible’ is only in the mind and not in the heart.” P.S. I collect quotes!

I have been a member of Lynne Brick’s Belvedere Square location now since 2005. Years before that, I started out cute in elementary school, but it wasn’t long before it was pretty obvious I inherited some serious chubby genes!  And so, like many girls that age, I began a lifelong battle of the bulge and yo-yo dieting.  I find myself making the same promises, but I am going to prove that I am getting better with age.  I am going to do the number one thing that makes any fitness program a success and that is to PLAN!  As a legal assistant and mother to a small zoo, I am super busy yet ready to have something new to complain about—like perhaps how my pants keep on falling down around my hips!

Care to take the journey with me?!

I have been a member of Brick Bodies since July 2009. I’m a multimedia producer for MASNsports.com. My job includes complimentary coverage of the Orioles, Nationals and Ravens. I also maintain my own blog on my website. I attend several baseball and football games each year for work. My goal is to maintain my weight and put on some muscle, while picking up other nutrition tips from trainers or the other members. Brick Bodies offers a variety of equipment to use and since my job is pretty sedentary it allows me to get the exercise that I need to stay active.

I have been a member of Lynne Brick’s at Belvedere Square for a little over four months.  I joined when my husband and I moved to Baltimore from Washington, DC in January.   I am an Event Sales Consultant with Baltimore’s Sky Blue Events.  What I love about Lynne Bricks is the supportive female environment within the club – every woman wants one another to succeed.  I joined the gym so that I could take classes in the early morning hours and on the weekends, mostly strength training to tone up some of my “problem” areas.  You can catch me often at a BodyPump class.

Laura Waterhouse

Hey Blog followers!

My name is Laura Waterhouse, I am 25 and I teach at Saint Frances Academy. I hail from the wonderful England and embrace America and all it has to offer. Sadly this also includes I-hop, Pizza Hut, Ben and Jerry’s and Burger King. As a result I have put on weight….I aim to lose 100lbs and blog my way to that target. I joined Lynn Bricks at Belvedere Square after getting on the scales and hearing it cry.

I love good movies, laughing, hearing people speaking French, the smell of coffee, Shakespeare, Christmas, feeding stray cats, cookie dough straight from the packet when no one is watching – and beer.

Morassa Mohseni

I’ve only recently decided to take on the challenge of reaching my health and fitness goals, as such I joined the Downtown Brick Bodies in mid-May 2010. I’m currently nearing the end of my Ph.D at Johns Hopkins where my thesis work focuses on identifying new therapeutic targets for treating Breast Cancer. When I’m not working at the bench, I’m spending quality time with my boyfriend and going to the gym attending one of the many classes BB has to offer (I do yoga twice a week and body pump at least once a week). My goals are to lose weight, build my strength and restore the flexibility I once had when I was a gymnast.
